BBQ recipe - Al's famous marinade

Al Brown, Cascade's service manager considers himself an expert griller. We suggest that if you try his famous marinade, particularly good with flank steak, you'll agree.

Try this marinade with flank steak. Ask your butcher to run it through the tenderizer once.

Ingredients
1/2 cup soy sauce (Aloha Shoyu Sauce if available)
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup marin (Japanese cooking wine)
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup regular sugar
6 cloves fresh garlic - smashed
1 piece fresh ginger - 3-4 inches in length, peeled and julienned

Directions
Place all of the ingredients in a gallon zip lock bag, stir to dissolve the sugar and add the flank steak. Refrigerate overnight.

Grill the flank steak, remove it once it is done and let rest for 5 minutes. Then slice against the grain on the bias.

Best served with steamed rice. ENJOY!

Variations to the Marinade
Add any or all to the above ingredients:

1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
1 teaspoon red chili flakes (more if you like it spicy)
2-3 stalks green onions (sliced in 1 inch pieces)
