honey vinegar
I love this sweet vinegar. I have it sitting in a squeeze bottle next to my stove, at the ready for any dish! With similar characteristics to the sweet apple vinegars from Japan, I often use it in the wok with soy sauce and toasted sesame oil.

Summer Memories
For some reason, olives seem best on a warm summer day.
Either stuffed or in an easy spread, olives seem just right. Paired simply with a soft and fresh artisan bread that is topped with a relish is a combination that embodies relaxation, relieving the pressure of life. This, along with the moist winds from the Pacific Ocean, warmed gently along the walls of the Topanga Canyon as it rises to the deck where we lounge, creates a day full of wonderful summer memories.
Add to your tray a wedge of cheese. No matter if it is a triple cream from Normandy or Off Kilter from Mt. Townsend Creamery in Port Townsend. Almost any cheese will be a positive addition to the afternoon and the memories.
When making an olive-based relish you can streamline the process by utilizing Anchovy, Blue Cheese or Piquillo Pepper stuffed olives. Slice in half lengthwise and they make the perfect base to your smoked bell peppers, garlic and onions.

Not all giant Avocados are the same!
We have had a few big ones from other places. Though none have ever come close to the amazing Reed from Herman Ranch!
No matter how you cut it, Avocados are amazing food. One of the richest fruit sources of Vitamin E, a great source of carotenoid lutein (a natural antioxidant that helps maintain eye health as we age), a health boost of beta sitosterol (which helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels), and nearly 20 other vitamins and minerals - including folate, fiber, potassium, beta-carotine, and iron. Additionally, the unsaturated fats in avocados helps the body absorb more fat-soluble nutrients that are eaten with the fruit.
So, there are at least 10 good reasons to eat at least one avocado every day:
Helps Prevent Prostate Cancer
Helps Defend Against Oral Cancer: Seeking out pre-cancerous and cancerous oral cancer cells

Beyond Breakfast
Life is good with Oatmeal!
Oatmeal is more of an all-day staple in northern Europe, where enjoying it isn’t limited to breakfast. Pinhead oats make a sensational Coconut Pudding – very similar to rice pudding, but with a heartier texture and nuttier flavor. Plus, making this ultimate comfort food with oats instead of rice boosts fiber considerably, and the pudding is just as rich, creamy and delicious. For a truly luscious treat, serve the pudding topped with toasted coconut and pecans.
Oatmeal and breadcrumbs have long been used in meatloaf as extenders and to keep the meat moist. Using breadcrumbs will yield a soft, tender texture, while the pinhead oats produce a more interesting loaf. Our meatloaf recipe calls for adding pinhead oats to a blend of beef, pork and veal for a satisfying and really appealing textural combo.
Pinhead oats also make wonderful “risotto.” The classic cooking technique enhances the oats’ nuttiness. Our Oat Risotto with Butternut Squash and Preserved Lemon has all the wonderful qualities of a classic Italian risotto, in addition to the Moroccan - inspired flavors of preserved lemon and cinnamon. Try making it with vegetable broth for a sensational vegetarian meal. Pinhead oats are a great substitute for bulgar in tabbouleh, that classic grain salad of the Middle East.
