National PKU Alliance Update
Dear VitaFriends,
I have some exciting news! The National PKU Alliance (NPKUA) is pleased to announce its new Member Discount Program to help you save money on low protein food, and help us continue our work in improving the lives of individuals with PKU while pursuing a cure.
For a $25 membership fee, you can access this new discount program. It is our way to thank you for your support and assist you in managing your PKU effectively. As an NPKUA member, you will receive a free box of Vitabites (low-protein chocolate bars) from Vitaflo USA, as well as many more discount offers from other medical foods companies.
We hope you will donate more than your membership fee. In the coming year, we need your help as we expand our educational efforts, increase our advocacy work on the federal level with the Medical Foods Equity Act, and continue to fund research projects aimed at improving treatment options and pursuing a cure. Some of our new programs include launching a centrally organized PKU teen/adult program and creating an insurance ombudsman project to assist adults and families who are having difficulty getting medical formula and foods covered by their health insurance company. To become a member and support our work, go to www.npkua.org and click on “join” on the bottom.
We have also been invited to compete again in a Pepsi Refresh grant for PKU research during the month of August due to the number of votes we received in July! We need your help in spreading the word about this and getting your members, family, friends and co-workers to vote! It’s simple, easy and free. Vote at http://www.refresheverything.com/npkuafindacure or text 100571 to 73774.
Thank you so much for your support and involvement in our work in creating a strong national voice for PKU.
In High Hopes,
Christine S. Brown
NPKUA Executive Director
