Tasmanian Eucryphia Lucida Honey
At latitude 42 degrees south, Tasmania is one of the most unique places on earth. For one, the ocean air brings a heavenly amount of rain to the Tasmanian Island. It is here, on this small island off the south-western tip of Australia, that the Eucryphia Lucida tree thrives - a tree whose ancestors are sixty five million years old. Now found only in Australia and South America, the Leatherwood flowers bloom each year from early January to mid March - stopping just as the winter weather sets in.
This raw honey is produced using a special, low temperature process. The end result is a thick, buttery honey, with amazing, subtle, floral notes - along with its bold aromatic "tree" roots and slight spicy flavor.
It is this combination of elements, along with the careful handling, that creates one of earth's most amazing natural treats. And, like all raw honey, it is good for you too. Leatherwood honeys contain almost 80 different substances important for human nutrition - including a plethora of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The live enzyme content is one of the highest of all foods, and raw honey is naturally rich in anti-bacterial and anti-microbial factors. And, in the case of leatherwood honey, it tastes great too. If you have never tried it - you might want to find out what all the whoopla is about...
This is one of just a handful of products that we consider "above all others," especially when compared to like-named items on the market. We have many customers who, having tried every version they can find, tell us that the Tasmanian Honey Company is, by far, the very best. It is because of you, our customers who love this honey, that we now offer three sizes.
