Les Ruchers de Bourgogne honey A Sweet Taste of France
EST 1890: A true family of beekeepers.

Some of the the best food quotes come from the movies. And almost always it's a momentary but cherished memorable moment that sometimes lives longer than the movie itself. This 1962 animated comedy "featuring" Judy Garland, Gay Purr-ee, is a catty movie with a perfect quote about the mystique surrounding French food.

Jeanette: [to her sister] But darling, think of Paris! Lovely, gay Paris! Have you forgotten the sidewalk cafés and how we sipped champagne?
Mewsette: Champagne? That must be what they call catnip in Paris. How nice!
Jeanette: ...the button champignons sautéed in butter with tiny shreds of herbs…
Mewsette: I know what they are - mushrooms! And delicious, too!
Jeanette: And oh, my dear, the Champs-Elysées!
Mewsette: Champs-Elysées? I wonder what they taste like.

Acacia honey is actually from a false acacia, Robinia pseudoacacia, commonly known as black locust, a tree native to eastern North America and widely planted in Europe. Acacia honey has lower acid content than other honeys and its high fructose content means that it can stay liquid for a long time. It's color ranges from a light yellow to white to clear.

Linden Tree honey To me, "Lime" seems like a more appropriate name, given the flavor of the honey. Always one of my favorites, because of the shockingly citrusy brightness that hits your palette at the back of the throat.

Rosemary Honey: More common in Italy, France and Spain, this Rosemary honey is a perfect topper to those summer grilled fruits. Lending a slightly herbaceous smell and flavor. The woodsy notes lend a nice balance to the sweeter, sugary flavors of the honey.

Chateau Virant Green Lucques Olives Chateau Virant
Green Lucques Olives

These delicious olives are fully flavored with a wonderful taste. I love to bite into these olives; place one in your mouth and bite into the flesh, and the flavor! You can feel the texture of the olive, and the oil from these olives is perfection.

It's like having a fine olive oil in every bite! I recommend allocating the olives or you will find the jar empty before you know it!

Château Virant is a family-run business. In the 1950s, they were the first in France to cultivate both olive groves and grape vineyards for commercial production.

The combination of olives and olive oil, along with the first class wine might just be the reason everything they produce is so uniquely special!

Duck Fat
More Than Gourmet Graisse de Canard
Some believe that this is the healthiest fat. Let's face it, when it's called fat it can't be too healthy for you. Take lard for instance, it's fat melted down and called lard. Now, lard is not the best sounding name. In fact, it sounds heavy and a bit unappealing. But when you find out it's good for you, heart healthy, you go, "yeah, that makes sense".

Fat on the other hand is, well, fat. Plain and simple fat sounds like F A T.

Now that we have that out, the real truth is that duck fat is one good fat, a lot closer to goodness for you than say, canola/vegetable oil, or any of those GMO hydrogenated oils. And it tastes spectacular!

Think potatoes fried in a fat that has a lot of character. Use it in place of butter when rubbing your chicken for the grill, adding to your morning scramble (eggs) and it is divine in a warmed vinaigrette! This duck fat must be good for you!
